What is Scar Therapy?

Scars can sometimes interrupt the natural flow of the lymphatic system, leading to swelling, tightness, or pockets of fluid becoming trapped above or around the scar.

This is especially common with surgical scars such as caesarean (C-section) scars, abdominal or breast cancer surgery scars, or any area where the tissue has healed tightly.

Scar therapy combines gentle hands-on techniques with supportive technologies — including low-level laser therapy (LLLT) — to help soften and mobilise scar tissue.

When scar tissue becomes more flexible, the lymphatic vessels are better able to regenerate and reconnect through the area, allowing fluid to move more freely again.

How Scar Therapy Helps

  • Softens tight or thickened scar tissue

  • Encourages lymphatic flow through and around the scar

  • Reduces fluid buildup above the scar

  • Improves mobility and comfort in the surrounding tissue

  • Supports the body’s natural healing and repair processes

Low-level laser therapy has been shown to promote cellular healing and increase tissue pliability, making it an effective option for scars that feel tight, raised, or restrict movement.

Scar therapy is gentle, non-invasive, and tailored to your stage of healing.  It can be helpful months — or even many years — after surgery or injury.
